Your Miracle Is Ready; Are You? (Guest Blog from My Wife)

Dec 7th, 2012 | By

(I’m reposting an insight my wife shared in honor of Chanukah. Don’t miss: Miracles Panel Mon. night, Chanukah party Sat. night: HH)

“But you said we can have Jelly donuts!  Why can’t I have? It’s not fair!” my son protested.

I gently told him what he needed to do to get one. But he was so busy being upset that he didn’t hear me.

I wondered if I do the same thing with G-d sometimes. He is waiting to give me everything I truly need. He is waiting for ME to stretch into the person that can best handle incredible blessings so they will be really good for me and the world.  Am I paying attention?

If I don’t have time for my mother now, will it be good for me to get a job that will make me even busier? If I’m not willing to be responsible now when it feels hard, will it be good for me to get the job/relationship/promotion I want when they will add to the challenge of choosing responsibility over comfort?

Chanukah is a turning point in the year. If we commit to say these 10 words everyday, “Please, G-d, show me what I need to see gently,” and quiet our thoughts and emotions, we could see something we’ve never seen before. We can get an insight about what G-d wants and what is in the way of receiving His abundant blessings. If we do this consistently, at some point we can have a miracle just like the family in this 2 min film clip:

Happy Winter!
