Parties, Panels & Coffee: Chanukah Week at Aish Posted on Dec 10th, 2012 by

Well, it’s been an outstanding weekend here at Aish. It kicked off with a beautiful Friday night dinner at the Sixth Street Community Synagogue in the East Village. We had about 50 guests at our heart and soul-warming  pre-Chanukah event, which we hosted together with Friends of the IDF. The evening was lovely, and we look forward to making many more Friday night dinners downtown. The festivities continued all through Saturday night, with our Chanukah Speakeasy, which took place downtown at the Blue Moon Hotel on Orchard Street. The place was packed with both familiar and new faces,  guests dined on a delicious Chanukah buffet, and grooved to the sounds of Craig Lawrence and his band, and jazz pianist Ehud Asherie. Thanks to everyone who showed up and made both of these events a total success.

Our Chanukah programs continue with tonight’s Miracles Panel at the Aish Center. What are miracles? What place to their have in our lives today? We’re joined by two engaging and inspiring guests; Comedy Cures founder Saranna Rothberg, and renowned cab driver/entrepreneur, Jack Alvo. Both have amazing and unexpected stories you do not want to miss. Join us at 7.30 for candle lighting, plus latkes and donuts. The panel begins at 8. And finally, a little plug for one of our newest regular events: Downtown Learning Cafe. Every Thursday night, Rabbi Stuart Shiff leads a cozy class and discussion at this gem of a Lower East Side coffee shop. If you’re living or working in the area, passing through, or feel like a change of scene, check it out. We’d love to see you there.

Happy Chanukah from all of us here at the Aish Center!
