We’re halfway through East Meets Jewish week… Posted on Jan 10th, 2013 by

girls at event…and it’s great. Last night held the first of our two East Meets Jewish events, Journey to Self: A Hands-On Experience in Living Consciously. It’s funny – sometimes I’m not quite sure who’ll be showing up at our events. You put feelers out and advertise, but really, it’s hard to predict the sort of crowd you’ll get. It’s always such an amazing feeling to see a roomful of vibrant and enthusiastic men and women, on a weeknight, no less.

East Meets Jewish is a two-part event led by Dov Ber Cohen, who I had the pleasure of finally meeting last night. After six years in Asia immersed in Eastern philosophy and tradition, Dov Ber  journeyed to Israel. After years of intensive study, he’s dedicated himself to empowering people the world over to live life fully, sharing classic Jewish wisdom as influenced by his life-changing tour through the East. He’s also founder of All for the Kids, a non-profit that supports orphans in Asia.

Last night was a lecture and workshop (I popped in for a few minutes and had the pleasure of seeing a roomful adults engage in a group stretching session), and the second event in the series is a Friday night dinner this week. It’s filling up fast, but we’d love for you to come! Here’s the Facebook page for the event, which includes all the info you’ll need, plus registration links.

And next week at the Aish Center is Jewcology week! In the lead-up to Tu B’Shevat, we’ll be celebrating all things ecological, and ending the week with an awesome Shabbat dinner in the East Village. Also next week is Jew in the City, featuring the singular Allison Josephs – filmmaker and all round impressive lady. You don’t want to miss it.
