This week’s Torah portions (Achrei Mot and Kedoshim) outline the underpinnings of the morality of the Western world…yes, the Torah is the root of all that we instinctively consider moral. As an intriguing by-product, they also happen to prove (or at least strongly evidence) that everyone believes in the Gd of the Jewish people. In recent years there have been several books published with the expressed purpose of proving a negative-that there is no Gd. Outside of the curiousness as to why someone who holds this belief would bother spending their time disavowing others of theirs, the books, in great measure, attack Christian beliefs and ignore Judaism’s take on those same issues.
There are several significant and practical ramifications to this issue-both societally and on a personal level. We will explore those and more tonight at 7:00 @ the Aish Center.
