God is One (but so what?)

You may have noticed that Judaism is constantly going on about the Oneness of God. Fine, I get it, we’re monotheistic. But once you know that, what’s the need for constant emphasis? There are six mitzvot that are binding 24/7. The second one is knowing that God is one. Hmmmm, why are we commanded to be thinking about that at all times?! Isn’t that a bit excessive?
So it must be that there are many benefits to spending one’s time this way. What are they? And how do they tie in to the reiteration of the building of the Mishkan (Tabernacle) that comprises the bulk of this week’s portion? Along the way we’ll also discuss its relation to the Sabbath, the river that ran out of Eden, the Shema and the 10 core forces of existence.
