Your Miracle Is Ready; Are You? (Guest Blog from My Wife) Posted on Dec 7th, 2012 by

(I’m reposting an insight my wife shared in honor of Chanukah. Don’t miss: Miracles Panel Mon. night, Chanukah party Sat. night: HH)

“But you said we can have Jelly donuts!  Why can’t I have? It’s not fair!” my son protested.

I gently told him what he needed to do to get one. But he was so busy being upset that he didn’t hear me.

I wondered if I do the same thing with G-d sometimes. He is waiting to give me everything I truly need. He is waiting for ME to stretch into the person that can best handle incredible blessings so they will be really good for me and the world.  Am I paying attention?

If I don’t have time for my mother now, will it be good for me to get a job that will make me even busier? If I’m not willing to be responsible now when it feels hard, will it be good for me to get the job/relationship/promotion I want when they will add to the challenge of choosing responsibility over comfort?

Chanukah is a turning point in the year. If we commit to say these 10 words everyday, “Please, G-d, show me what I need to see gently,” and quiet our thoughts and emotions, we could see something we’ve never seen before. We can get an insight about what G-d wants and what is in the way of receiving His abundant blessings. If we do this consistently, at some point we can have a miracle just like the family in this 2 min film clip:

The Light Already Inside: Taste of Clarity Posted on Dec 7th, 2010 by

This thought is dedicated to the speedy salvation of all those affected by the raging fires in Haifa, Israel.

We must remember how great the light that’s already inside of us is, especially since this is the darkest time of year, where many people are experiencing a lot of bumps in their path. Some bigger, some smaller.

As we lit the candles in our menorah last night by our living room window, the small flames seemed to drown among the hundreds of windows of the buildings all around us.  It reminded me that one of the gifts of Hanukkah is learning the secret of seeing light in the darkest moments.

The Jews had no chance of defeating the biggest empire of their day; what were they thinking? How did they not sink into despair and give up? Where did they get the energy to keep fighting? Keep trying? And how can we access the strength to overcome what seems impossible in our life?

Here is what they did: They stubbornly recommitted again and again to trust that G-d has infinite ways to get them where they truly need to go, to help them live the noble life they yearned to live. He can give them the strength to keep their commitments despite what seemed impossible odds.

Here is an amazing modern day example:

Oscar was told that without legs he could never run – check this out!

We, too, can trust that G-d can give us everything we need to overcome enormous obstacles and fulfill our potential. We just have to ask. When you light the menorah and look at the lights, you can ask that G-d give you and others everything we need to know and do what’s right regardless of obstacles.

Happy Hanukkah!

Warmly, Tzipora
